FAQs

Who is this event for?

Northwest Women Rock Day is for anyone and everyone who wants to celebrate women in music! Whether you are a fan, an aspiring musician or music industry person, a seasoned industry professional, or anywhere in between, this event is for you. All ages and genders are welcome!

Why is this event needed?

The world feels chaotic, polarizing, and scary these days, and we believe one of the best ways to combat all of this is through the building of community. This event is designed to help you make some new connections, hear powerful stories from badass women in music, and inspire you to support the women in your local music scene.

What’s the significance of the date?

Women Rock Day is celebrated annually on January 3rd because on January 3, 1987, Aretha Franklin became the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This special day seeks to recognize women’s contributions to the music industry, encourage young women/femmes to pursue music careers, and bring awareness to women who are breaking barriers in the industry.

What can I expect at this event?

We’ve got all sorts of fun stuff planned for everyone! You’ll have an opportunity to hear from several awesome speakers during our panel, enjoy live music from local artists and DJs, shop at our pop-up record store, network with other participants, and more!

What does it cost to attend?

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the cost to attend this event is completely FREE!

Where can I park?

Street parking is available around downtown Edmonds.

What other ways can I support women in music beyond Women Rock Day?

There are so many incredible women/femmes in the music scene–here in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Here are some easy ways to support them every day: download/stream music from women artists; recommend their music to your friends/family; go to their shows; hire them for your own events and projects; purchase products and services from women-owned businesses and brands. No matter who you are, you can actively help amplify women in music!
