Curated by award-winning music blog Guerrilla Candy and boutique Northwest label Latent Print Records, the Musicology Co. Music Club is the first vinyl subscription service to focus exclusively on Pacific Northwest artists.

With the Musicology Co. Music Club  you’ll either get a record from a PNW artist you know and love, a hidden gem from a PNW musician or a record from a breaking PNW act on the rise. You have the option to buy our record of the month outright, or subscribe to the Musicology Co. Music Club and receive exclusive content along with your monthly record. One month could include exclusive artwork, the next month might include special promotional materials and another could provide access to an invite-only listening party.

Each month Guerrilla Candy and Latent Print Records select a release from a PNW they’re excited about to feature as part of the club.

For July 2025 they’ve chosen The Head and the Heart’s stunning new album “Aperture.” The bonus content includes an exclusive interview with The Head and the Heart’s Matty Gervais and a limited-edition copy of Old Friendly’s 1997 full-length “Simple Conversations” on colored vinyl.

Why we chose The Head and the Heart’s “Aperture”

The story of The Head and the Heart is well enough known in the Seattle music scene to the point where it’s almost legend. A group of friends who started out playing open mic nights at Conor Byrne Pub end up selling a reported 10,000 copies of their self-produced debut album. That success, and tons of local buzz, led to them signing a deal with Sub Pop Records and the rest is history.

“Aperture,” the band’s sixth record, is a record filled with delightful little moments that make it such a big, joyful album. From the first plinking of piano keys on opener “After the Setting Sun” to the anthemic sound of “Arrow” to the funky, almost dancey vibes of “Beg, Steal, Borrow” there’s so much fun to be found on this near-perfect summertime record.
